On my morning stroll a few days ago I glanced up and saw a paraglider heading towards the beach.
He landed and I walked over and had a chat with him. The first thing he tried to do was to sell me a tandem flight but I explained that I used to fly myself, and that now I just walk. Needless to say he was a bit perplexed but when asked about their staring site, he pointed to a cleared patch of land high in the mountains behind Alanya. “It’s about 12km by car” he said, “We can give you a lift if you like”.
I declined, went back to the hotel, had some lunch and decided to try to find the starting site by myself.
They were more than a little surprised when I turned up on the mountain late in the afternoon, but it was a nice walk with excellent views.
Thankfully it was easier walking back down!
