Non-stop walking race!
I did it!
It’s been at the back of my mind for a while but up until the last moment, I was unsure if I was actually going to do it. I have got a starting spot in a non-stop walking race, Fotrally, that will be run here in Stockholm next summer.
In the race, everybody walks at a pace of 5km/h until there is only one person left, the winner.
This year’s winner walked for 81 hours. That’s 405 non-stop km!
There is no way I am going to beat that, my personal goal is 48 hours. With a bit of training and some mental work, that should be possible. I’ve ridden a couple of 24-hour solo mountain bike races, a 12-hour solo spinning session and stayed awake and worked for 40 hours more than once, so 48 hours should be attainable, with a bit of luck.
The main reason I finally decided to enter is that I need some motivation to get fit and lose some weight. Hopefully, this will give me a bit of a kick in the backside and inspire me to raise my game!
For some reason, I am not all that worried about the walking part, 🙂 , it’s the sleep deprivation that is going to be difficult to survive. It is very much going to be a battle of wills rather than muscle.
But then anything could happen.
Let the games begin…
